MatRecord for schools
The same app a family uses for one competitor scales to a school running several locations, because locations, staff roles and team rules were built in from the start rather than bolted on.
What changes when you run a school
Multiple locations
Add as many sites as you run. Every profile belongs to one, and page headers gain a switcher so you can look at a single site or all of them at once. A location can even override the school-wide belt set.
Staff, kept separate
Instructors, head instructors and owners are profile types in their own right, with a separate setting for whether they compete. Staff who don't compete stay out of results entry, team points tables and ranking links, without having to be deleted or faked.
Team Overview
Medals by tournament, points leaders, world top ten, state rankings, and what needs attention, across everyone you train, in one place. This is the screen most owners end up living in.
Team eligibility rules
Tick which ranks qualify for a team, whether only point-earning tracks count, and which divisions your teams compete in. The rules are yours to set rather than assumptions baked into the code.
Your rules, your manual
Rules pages and the twelve-page user manual are editable text. Rewrite them to match how your school actually works, then export and hand them to every family, so everyone is reading the same thing.
Bulk import
Bring a roster in from a spreadsheet a sheet at a time. Columns are matched by heading rather than a fixed order, the matching is shown for correction, and every row is validated before anything is written.

Site licensing
Site licenses for schools are being set up now. A license is intended to cover your instructors and the families who train with you, rather than asking each of them to buy separately.

A note on student data
MatRecord holds children's names, ages, belt ranks, photographs and results, and it holds them on the device of the adult who entered them. There is no account, and no copy anywhere else. Nothing about a student is transmitted to us, and nothing leaves that device unless the person holding it chooses to send it.
That makes the app simple to reason about, but it does not remove your own obligations. If you are recording competitors who are not your own children, getting whatever permission your jurisdiction requires from their parents or guardians is on you, and worth settling before you start photographing at a tournament.
